Contracts as a Career: Survey Results

Earlier this year, members contributed to a survey looking at the status of contract management as a career.

Overall, the results confirm the enjoyment that the vast majority of us gain from our work. However, in many organizations we still struggle to establish a clear career path for this role and this was an area for particular discussion on the webinar. There is broad agreement and support for IACCM's work to drive increased interest from academia and encourage the types of program that are fundamental to professional status.

As many of you know, IACCM has been making significant progress in gaining recognition not only of the role, but of the value it delivers. This is having many beneficial effects, both in terms of academic support and growing awareness by senior management. However, these shifts also have implications to where and how we must spend our time, with a growing need to act more strategically and to put into practise many of the god principles that we understand, but do not always follow.

Our work on this topic of contract management careers will continue and we welcome volunteers who would like to engage more closely on the drive to increased recognition and also ensuring that there are youngsters who see the potential for this satisfying role
