Keynote: Project Management Theory and the Management of Large Complex Projects AMERICAS 2015

Large projects fail two-thirds of the time. The reasons for this are numerous; poor planning, poor conceptualization or the inability to effectively manage change throughout the execution process. By rethinking our current project management theory, we can address many of the challenges that currently cause large projects to fail.\r
\r
In this session we will:\r
\r
- Take a closer look at general management theory to learn more than we have in the past\r
- Address weak project management foundations - establishing clearly defined strategic business outcomes (SBOs), better owner readiness, better baseline modeling and stronger focus on driving out biases in planning\r
- Focus on flows rather than just focusing on tasks\r
- Analyze the role of stakeholders in shaping large complex projects
