Gene leads legal automation firm LawHawk, which helps lawyers and businesses improve and automate their processes. He was a corporate & finance partner at Buddle Findlay before founding LawHawk in 2015. He is a Fellow of World Commerce & Contracting, is on the Advisory Board of the Centre for Legal Innovation and holds an MBA (Distinction) from Victoria University.

Phil has a background in quantity surveying and commercial management. From the early years predominantly with the rail industry in the UK and then the vertical construction sector after a move with to New Zealand. Where has held posts as QS, QS Manager, and Commercial Manger working on projects across the country from hospitals to commercial high-rise buildings.

He is now Commercial Director of Morden Limited, construction consulting specialists and involved in projects with Kainga Ora, The Callaghan Institute and KiwiRail as well as representing main contractors, principles and subcontractors.

He is a Registered Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors, where he sits on the branch board, as well as sitting on the Standard Method of Measurement panel, he is also involved in the National Building Contracts review panels. He also holds memberships with The Arbitrators and Mediators Association of New Zealand, The Society of Construction Law, The New Zealand Institute of Building and, of course The World Commerce and Contracting Association, and finally, the Resolution Institute of Australia and New Zealand where he sits on the Wellington Practice Group.

Outside of this he is also an active member of the Vertical Constructors Leaders Group and sits on their Commercial Working Group. Which feeds into the Construction Accord.

Along with Gene Turner he has recently won the innovation award for subcontract automation with the World Commerce and Contracting Association, winning the prestigious APAC Innovation Award.They also reached the shortlist for the RICS innovation awards this year.
