This commercial lead role, which sits within the Corporate & Professional Service commercial team, is also an integral part of the stakeholder team within the PEQF (Police Education Qualifications Framework) Centre of Initial Recruit Learning (CoIRL), part of the Met’s Professionalism Directorate. You will provide essential commercial support to the business, proactively managing one of the Met’s key contracts with its delivery partner.
You will contribute to delivering commercial excellence for the Met, providing a customer focused service, understanding the business need and stakeholder drivers, with the aim of becoming a trusted commercial advisor. It allows, for the first time, to independently accredit our recruit training in a way that you see in other professions working together with four London based universities.
The role will be accountable for managing the overall commercial relationship while helping to oversee and maintain the operational delivery of this c.£300+ million contract that underpins the delivery of the PEQF, and in addition, play a key role in the change request process with the partner.
In this role you will be expected to lead on commercial contract management for one (or more) of MPS’s most high-profile, complex and strategic contracts. You will be contributing to delivering commercial excellence for the Met, providing a customer-focused service, understanding the business need and stakeholder drivers, with the aim of becoming a trusted commercial advisor.
You will be required to work closely with colleagues across the MPS, embedded with one of the MPS’s Business Groups of Intelligent Client Functions (ICFs). You will also work closely with colleagues within the commercial function to contribute and feed into the category strategies impacted by the contract, offering insight and best practice across the wider team.
This role is dedicated to the commercial contract management of strategic suppliers which is also high in complexity and value. You will be expected to work autonomously to ensure effective stakeholder management and work within the commercial and wider MPS governance framework processes and procedures. You will drive supplier relation and performance management, risk management, issues resolution, while also responsible for the financial management, change control and overall contract and statutory compliance while fostering a culture of continuous improvement (service and value).
As a leader in the commercial function, you will support and advocate the contract management standards across the organisation.
