About LGP and LG Training Academy (LGTA)

Local Government Procurement (LGP) Pty. Ltd is the business arm of Local Government NSW (LGNSW), the peak body of all councils of NSW. A not-for-profit organisation, LGP is a ‘prescribed entity’ under the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW). For over a decade now, LGP has been contributing extensively to the capability building of the sector. As a part of a strategic move, LGP established LG Training Academy (LGTA) as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO Code 45450). Besides the accredited qualifications, LGTA offers several non-accredited procurement, contracting and project management courses.  

About the Role

To deliver our training services, we have LGTA Panel of Trainers. With the increase in the scope of our training offerings, we are refreshing and enhancing this panel to include trainers and assessors for delivering the following courses: 

  1. Certificate IV in Procurement and Contracting

  2. Diploma of Procurement and Contracting 

  3. Advanced Diploma of Procurement and Contracting   

The applicants who get enlisted on this trainer panel will be engaged on an ongoing need basis to deliver LGTA training programs. 

Selection criteria

To be considered for these positions, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a current TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

  • Have the relevant vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered and assessed.

  • Demonstrate current industry skills and experience directly relevant to the training/assessment to be delivered, preferably in the local or any government sector. 

  • Experience as a trainer and assessor in the relevant area.  

  • Willing to deliver the assigned training courses in our Sydney office, at regional locations and at clients’ premises as needed.

  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment towards RTO administration and compliance requirements relevant to the role.

  • Effectively facilitate and manage an inclusive training environment.

  • Prepared to continue to develop their VET knowledge and skills, industry currency and trainer/assessor competence. 

Selection process

The below-mentioned two staged processes will be followed to select candidates to be a part of the LGTA Panel of Trainers.

Stage One: Interview

Based on the essential requirements listed above, suitable shortlisted applicants will be called for an interview.

Stage Two: Presentation

After being successful in stage one, candidates must demonstrate their training capabilities through a presentation. Key aspects of this stage include:

  • Prepare a presentation on the topic of choice from the training domains listed above.    

  • The presentation duration should be 30 mins including the Q & A.
