The Commercial Contract Management (CCM) team performs end to end commercial management of our Vodafone Business UK customers throughout all stages of the contract lifecycle, including:
- Pre-sales (helping our sales teams to win new business at profitable margins)
- Handover (ensuring that business is contracted correctly; risk is understood and mitigated; and that contractual obligations are clear and handed over to appropriate teams for execution)
- In-Life (optimising the commercial performance of the contract (including change and exit management); managing commercial disputes; and driving margin and revenue improvement activities)
- Extension or Renewal (securing timely renewal of the contract whilst minimising erosion of revenue and margin)
As a Commercial Contract Manager you will have the opportunity to be at the front and centre of the relationship with existing and prospective Vodafone Business customers in the UK.
The role will require you to work collaboratively with many different areas of the Business including Sales, Product, Solution, Legal, Finance and Technology; provide commercial thought leadership and decision making; and to work directly with our customers and occasionally with suppliers.
The role would suit candidates who have a demonstrable ability to: understand a variety of complex commercial and contractual models; use available data and appropriate assumptions in order to make informed decisions; negotiate pragmatically at all levels in an organisation; and identify and create value from challenging commercial issues.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
- Pre Sales:
- Commercial qualification of new opportunities identified by the Sales team
- Commercial strategy for winning business at optimal commercial KPIs
- Validation of win price through benchmarking, competitor ghosting; and identifying customer value
- Assisting with the negotiation with internal and external suppliers of goods/services to ensure least cost compliant solution
- Securing appropriate governance approval
- Negotiating with customers to support deal closure
- Handover
- Ensure agreed commercial terms are accurately and clearly captured in Contracts, including that appropriate risk mitigations have been identified
- Ensure commercial contractual obligations and liabilities are clearly documented and handed over to appropriate teams involved in delivery/execution of contract
- Ensure risk mitigation measures are understood and monitored / implemented
- In-Life
- Optimisation of revenue and margin throughout contract lifecycle
- Contract Management including tracking of obligations, deliverables and change
- Supporting the legal team with the review and drafting (by exception) of contractual documents
- Effecting contract extensions, renewals and terminations
- Facilitation/Co-ordination of commercial contract governance boards (as required)
- Management of commercial disputes to mutually satisfactory outcome for Vodafone and Customers
- Drive incremental revenue and margin activities through revenue growth and/or cost reduction
Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
- Minimum of 8 years experience in Commercial and Contract Management
- Planning and executing complex negotiations, with an ability to find pragmatic solutions; whether to resolve commercial disputes; close deals; or deliver margin improvement activities
- Able to evaluate commercial risk and provide appropriate mitigation through commercial terms, contract conditions or delivery methodology; plus be capable of coordinating the delivery of mitigation plans in-life.
- Able to structure and articulate compelling commercial proposals taking into account market and customer dynamics and focus on value creation for customers.
- Comfortable working in a matrix environment and playing in different positions (pre-sales or in life) depending on requirement of project.
- Able to collaborate with and provide commercial thought leadership to a wide range of stakeholders from different business areas, and have the credibility to influence decision makers at all levels
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to simplify complexity
- Growth mindset, open to taking on new challenges and identifying and implementing business improvement activities
- Team player, willing to share experience as well as coach and mentor colleagues
Technical / Professional qualifications:
- Must be an experienced Commercial and Contract Management professional with a proven track record in success
- Telco and IT experience is desirable
- World Commerce and Contract (formerly IACCM) accreditation is desirable
Key performance indicators:
- Successful governance reviews with strong feedback from Internal or external stakeholders
- Ability to operate as a self-starter, knowing your role and executing it well without constant Senior Management supervision
- Ability to build trusted relationships with and influence key stakeholders including Sales, Legal & Service Management, Business Continuity and Finance measured through positive feedback
